For any infantrymen, good tactical boots are worth their weight in gold. Marching, running, and carrying your gear will take a toll on your feet, and there are few things more painful that reopened blisters after running in rundown boots. Tactical boots may look similar to some civilian military-style footwear, but that is where the similarities end. Using better materials to make soldier’s boots softer, dryer, more comfortable, with better impact absorption and superior grip on the ground is a deal any infantryman would take, at any time in history.   Although tactical boots for security, army and police and footwear may differ in their intended use as far as the terrain goes, there are some features that every good pair of military boots need to have:
  1. Optimized for the weather.
  2. Good grip on any surface.
  3. A lot of shock absorption.
  4. Self-cleaning sole design.
  5. Resistance to gas, oil, and combustibles.
  6. Extreme durability.
At any point, in any mission, you want your feet to be as healthy as possible. Because you will be running and jumping with a heavy load on your back, you need your boots to protect the skin on your feet from tearing and causing small wounds. Because the boot will be enclosed to fight the weather, these little wounds can get infected and often leave you incapacitated for some future mission. While the price of combat military boots for men is higher than an average civilian pair of footwear, they go for sale for about what some people buy for designer shoes. But unlike those shoes, if you buy these they will help you survive in some less than hospitable conditions.

What are Tactical Boots?

Occasions when the battlefield is made from soft but dry ground and not mud, dust, or snow, are sadly very rare. And, with dozens of pounds that you need to carry with you, slipping and falling in bad weather is more than regular. This is where tactical boots come in. They are made to provide excellent grip and allow you to run and jump on treacherous soil as if it was asphalt. Also, they need to be soft on your feet while running with body armor, weapons, and gear attached to you. Tactical boots are made from high-end materials from the sole to the top. They can be either completely waterproof if made for wintertime, or made to breather and remove as much sweat from your feet as possible. Finally, the durability of the boot needs to be as good as possible. Military boots are often slightly heavier than their civilian counterparts because the rubber used in the soles and materials used in the rest of the boot is much denser and sturdier.

What are Tactical Boots Good For?

Human feet are not really made for extreme duress, but more for endurance. It is up to the boots to absorb much of that shock impact and keep your feet healthy and painless. Avoiding microfractures is very important long-term. And for the short-term, your feet need to stay dry. This includes both internal factors like sweat and external like puddles, mud, snow, and rain. Especially in cold weather, it is essential that there is no water in your boots. Because of these advantages, you can use tactical lightweight footwear in any situation that requires a lot of walking, running, jumping, or carrying heavy loads on foot. Basically, any job that doesn’t require having a steel-toe would be easier in a tactical boot.  Because of the increased comfort and the ergonomic design, even civilian jobs would be easier on the feet inside them. Additionally, while tactical boots are nominally more expensive than regular footwear, they tend to last much longer. Under regular civilian use, a military boot can last even a decade.

Can You Use Tactical Boots for Hiking?

Yes. Trekking, hiking, and any type of outdoor activity become easier with a good pair of boots. If you plan on going on an extensive trek, or a very demanding upward hike with a lot of gear on your back, these boots might be a necessity. Keeping your feet healthy doesn’t just make it easier to get to the top of the mountain, but also to come back.

Conclusion

Boots are an essential part of any soldier’s gear. Without them, there is little a modern soldier could do, especially in bad terrain. Thankfully, there are a lot of good options today that can adjust to any mission. Hot or cold, you will endure longer, and get tired later.
